Growing Young in Southwest Michigan Workshop & Keynote Presentation
Event Date: Tuesday, March 13, 2018
|Too many churches in southwest Michigan are struggling to involve and retain young people…let alone to unleash young people’s passion and potential to change the world. Drawing on his own experience growing up in southwest Michigan, former Camp Geneva counselor Jake Mulder will share research and ideas gleaned from one of the most comprehensive and collaborative studies of churches that are excelling with teenagers and young adults. The insights will be both proven and practical, allowing your church to take immediate and lasting next steps toward more effective ministry with young people that infuse energy and vitality into your overall congregation.|
The daylong workshop is designed for church leaders (senior and associate pastors, key volunteers, board members, youth leaders, and anyone else who cares about young people) to do a deep dive into the essentials of Growing Young, Sticky Faith, and other cutting-edge research from the Fuller Youth Institute. The workshop will also provide training on how to lead the necessary culture change in your church. Seating will be around tables and the workshop will include both presentation and team time to determine next steps.
The evening keynote presentation is designed for those in your church who care about young people but can’t give up an entire day for the workshop. Consider having a smaller team attend the workshop, then inviting a larger group from your congregation to attend the keynote. In the keynote participants will gain exposure to the most important elements of FYI’s research (including both leadership and parenting insights), better understand the importance of their role in ministry with young people (regardless of their age or position), and will be invited to partner with you to prioritize young people in a way that helps everyone in the church win.
