Campers who request weeks that are already full will be put on a waiting list. Check Availability
Frequently asked questions about waiting lists:
How will I know if I’m put on a waiting list? If you are placed on a waiting list, you will be notified by email if you gave us an email address, or in writing if we don’t have an email address.
What about my bunkmate? Will he/she be put on a waiting list too? Bunkmates are always kept together. If there is only one opening left in the week you want, both you and your bunkmate will be put on the waiting list.
If I’m placed on a waiting list, when will I know if openings become available? If we get a cancellation and you are next on the waiting list, we will call you. Again, we keep bunkmates together, so if there is only one opening, we will call somebody who registered to come alone, even if your registration was received earlier. If you are willing to come with or without your bunkmate, call our registrar and let her know so she can note that on your registration form. It may increase your chances of getting in.
If I’m placed on the waiting list, what does GENEVA do with my payment? If you paid with credit or debit card, we won’t charge your card unless you get in at a later date. If you paid by check, we will hold the check until we are certain you won’t get in (the Monday morning of the last week you requested) or until you call us and ask us to return it.
Can I ask to have my check returned and still stay on the waiting list? Yes, you can, but remember, we won’t cash it unless you get in and if you do get in at a later date, it saves time in processing your registration if we already have your check in our office.
Can I pick an open week instead of staying on the waiting list? Yes, the letter you receive will indicate what weeks (if any) are still available for your grade level and you can choose to either remain on the waiting list or take an available week.
If I’m placed on a waiting list, what are my chances of getting in? That’s hard to say because we never know how many cancellations we are going to get. We do have a lot of cancellations every year but we never know when they will come or how many we’ll get for any given week. Sometimes we get cancellations just a week before camp begins. Sometimes we even have no-shows at registration in which case we may call and offer the spot to someone on the waiting list, so it’s a good idea to keep your calendar open for the weeks you are on the waiting list.
Does GENEVA get a lot of cancellations? Last year we were able to take over 100 campers from the waiting list, either because of cancellations or other campers switching weeks.
Can I call GENEVA and find out where I am on the waiting list? Because of the amount of activity in the waiting list (we are adding and/or removing names daily), we are unable to keep a current printout, so we won’t be able to tell where you fall on the list.
If I’m placed in a week that works for me but I’d strongly prefer another week, can I stay in one week and be placed on a waiting list for my first choice? Yes, you can. All you have to do is call our office and ask for the summer camp registrar.
If I decide I don’t want to take my chances that an opening will occur in the week I want and decide to attend another camp, should I let GENEVA know? Yes, please give us a call so we can remove your name from the list and return your check (if you paid by check).
