My favorite passage of scripture is:

1 John 3:1-2: How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

When I was struggling with my identity and who and how I should fit in, someone gave me this passage. It really encouraged me to strive for my identity in Christ not in things of the world.

Campers may feel they have to find their identity in the things of this world. These two verses are a great reminder that God created us and loves us so much that we do not need anyone else’s love if we can know the love of our God and Father in Heaven.
