The wide variety of water resources surrounding GENEVA will lend opportunities for sailing, boogie boarding, tubing, skiing, and wakeboarding on Lake Michigan; blobbing and ziplining in Big Pine Lake; and kayaking down the river.
Alongside the water recreation comes the unique training in water responsibility. Each day you will spend time with GENEVA's resident lifeguard trainer so at the end of the week, you can be tested in your knowledge and skills enabling you to leave the week as a certified lifeguard. How cool is that! Participants will be required to swim 300 yards continuously using specified strokes and to retrieve a 10 lb object from the deep end of the pool to qualify for lifeguard instruction. Skill taught will include adult, child and infant CPR, AED training, emergency recognition around water, victim rescues in water including the use of a backboard, and much more. Note that you will not be certified unless you meet all the requirements and demonstrate proficiency in all the skills at the end of the week.
Space is limited to 20 participants, ages 15 and older. The camp fee covers all camp expenses, including the lifeguard course workbook, an 8x10 group photo and a GENEVA t-shirt.
